Meet the Director
Rev. Fr. Prof. Dr. Ikechukwu Ani
Executive Director(ED) ISPIC-German Center, Nigeria
Rev. Fr. Prof. Dr. Ikechukwu J. Ani is an alumnus of the Leopold-Franzens University of Innsbruck, where he obtained his doctorate in Theology, specializing in Moral Theology.
During his studies in Innsbruck, Austria, he showed a remarkable interest in the German language, accompanied by an equally strong appreciation for German culture. For this reason, he received special support from the then Jesuit Director of Studies, Fr. Klaus Schweiggl. After completing the mandatory German course for foreign students, Rev. Fr. Ani was permitted to attend lectures at the Institute of Translation at the University of Innsbruck and to take examinations there.
For three years, he also participated weekly in a German phonetics course at the Tyrolean State Theatre in Innsbruck under the guidance of the actress Gretl Fröhlich. He further advanced his language skills by completing a German course at the Goethe-Institut in Vienna, where he showed great enthusiasm for the effectiveness of the language laboratory.
Rev. Fr.. Ani successfully completed his doctoral studies at the University of Innsbruck with distinction and without difficulty. During his time as a student, he also worked during holidays as a priest in several German-speaking parishes in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. This allowed him to engage deeply with the cultural habits and practices of German-speaking communities.
In his home city of Enugu, Nigeria, Prof. Dr. Ani teaches German at Godfrey Okoye University, where he also lectures as a Professor of Ethics
